Oral history interview with Bill Petersen by Rebecca Smith

Bill recounts growing up on a farm in Hyrum, but accompanying his father up Logan Canyon as a boy to deliver supplies to their sheep that grazed there on four different permits in the summer. Bill loved working with the sheep and viewed it as a year-round vacation being with the sheep. Bill studied political science, but had many interests at Utah State. He then attended the University of Utah Law School which eventually led him to the real estate business. The waning family sheep business and necessity to sell land is what sparked Bill's interest in land brokerage. In addition to running sheep with his father, Bill discusses his recreational activities in Logan Canyon such as fishing and picnics and how the camping and picnicking facilities have improved since he was a child, as well as how regulating grazing through permits has allowed the vegetation to recover from overgrazing.
