The Washington County Water Conservancy District (WCWCD) has adopted a progressive stance in the efforts of water conservation since 1993. To begin with, in 1996, the WCWCD created, adopted and submitted its first Water Conservation Plan (Plan). Since implementation of the Plan, the county has experienced some dry years. Only one year in the past 10 years has had above normal snowpack, all the rest have been below average. However, regardless whether a year is wet or dry, the WCWCD has taken a proactive role in the demand for management of our water resources. "Let us continue to aggressively pursue a conservation mind set. We live in a desert and we will experience more dry periods than wet ones."1 With that in mind, WCWCD has prepared this report as an informational tool to let the community know the direction that is being taken to secure the virtual reservoir of water conservation in Washington County. |
