Image was scanned from color slide. Note: The Adachi Gardens are located at the Adachi Museum of Art in Yasugi, Japan. Adachi Zenko, the museum's founder, traveled all over Japan collecting pine trees and rocks, putting his heart and soul into the creation of each garden. There are six gardens, with about 165,000 square meters (1,776,060 square feet) in total.--Adachi Museum of Art website. Note: Chōzubachi is a vessel originally designed to keep water for rinsing one's mouth and cleansing one's body before worshiping gods or Buddhas. It subsequently evolved into what is called tsukubai and became a fixture of the Japanese tea ceremony found within the yard surrounding the tea house.--Wikipedia. |
