Amanohashidate, which is located north of Kyoto, is one of Nihoh Sankei, i.e. three outstanding views in Japan, along with Matsushima near Sendai and Miyajima near Hiroshima. Amanohashidate is a pine-covered sand spit whose name means "bridge to heaven." Image was scanned from color slide. Caption is from photographer's notes on slide. |
