Dean Dickey is a 1987 graduate of the University of Utah College of Law, where she was a member of the Utah Law Review. In addition to her J.D., she also received her B.A., magna cum laude, in 1975 and her M.A. in 1980 from the U. Prior to joining the S.J. Quinney College of Law, Dean Dickey worked as an associate at the Salt Lake City law firm of Snow, Christensen & Martineau where she specialized in commercial litigation and bankruptcy law. She later served two judicial clerkships with Judge Bruce S. Jenkins and Judge David Sam, both of the United States District Court for the District of Utah. Following her clerkships, she was in-house counsel with American Stores Properties, Inc. where she specialized in dispute resolution, litigation, and real property law. While with American Stores, she served as a board member of the Transportation Management Association of Utah. Dean Dickey joined the law school as Assistant Dean in 1999. She was honored by the University of Utah Center for Disability Services in 2003 as a recipient of its Distinguished and Exemplary Service to Students with Disabilities Award. She has also served on the Board of Directors for the Utah Independent Living Center, a non-profit organization which assists persons with disabilities achieve greater independence and promotes public understanding of the needs and abilities of disabled persons. |
