Subject Progressive Optic Neuropathy; Acellular Lamination Concretions; Optic Disc Hemorrhage
Description Drusen of the disc are a slowly progressive optic neuropathy characterized by accumulation of acellular lamination concretions in the prelaminar portion of the optic disc. Visual field abnormalities are frequently associated but visual acuity loss is rarely reported secondary to disc drusen. Hemorrhages in the vicinity of the disc are reported but their incidence and clinical significance are not clear. They might reflect ischemia to the optic disc or nerve fiber layer.
