Content Description +/-This collection consists of student telephone directories dating from 1950-2004 for Westminster College, Salt Lake City, Utah. Each directory includes the telephone numbers of current students, listed alphabetically by last name. The student's address, on or off campus, is also listed. All of the directories in this collection contain student telephone numbers; some years also include faculty listings. Years that do not include faculty listings are: 1950–1952, 1955–1957, 1958–1959, and 1977–1978. The method of listing telephone numbers varies by directory. The information added (or omitted) varies in relevance. For instance, the religious preference of the student was listed from 1950–1952. In 1958 the directories began naming the spouse of the student (if applicable). Likewise, mail box numbers were listed for students beginning in 1960 and stopping in 1966. In all directories the student's name, address, and telephone number is listed. Faculty and/or staff listings in the student directories, prior to 1969, gave the faculty and/or staff member's name, telephone number, and address. After 1969, and until 1978, the faculty and/or staff sections of the student directories kept a constant format of listing their name, work area or title, extension, campus address, zip code, and telephone number. The format of the directories varies greatly, including typescript sheets, small pocket-sized mimeographed publications, medium- to full-sized stapled sheets, and typeset publications. The title also varies greatly and is indicated in the inventory section of this guide. Campus directories (for faculty, staff and campus offices without student listings) were published separately (see Collection ACC-077A). Gaps in the collection occur for the following academic years: 1952–1953, 1954–1955, 1961–1962, 1971–1972, 1976-1977, 1978-1997. It is not known if student directories were published prior to 1950. Collection Use +/-Restrictions on Access: Open to public research. Access to parts of this collection may be restricted under provisions of state or federal law. Twenty-four hours advance notice is encouraged. Restrictions on Use: It is the responsibility of the researcher to obtain any necessary copyright clearances.
