Omikuji is a strip of fortune issued by a Japanese shrine or temple for a minimal donation, after a numbered or marked lot is pulled out of a box. Omikuji of "less than excellent" sign may be left tied to trees for a better luck, or it may be left on purpose for successful marriage proposal. Image was scanned from color slide.
