Additional Information |
The Hunter Plant is a coal-fired power plant about 3 miles south of Castle Dale, Emery County, Utah. Built by Utah Power & Light (now Rocky Mountain Power), it was named for former company President E. Allan Hunter. Unit 1 began operating in June of 1978, and two more units came online in the following five years. The three units have a combined generating capacity of 1,320 megawatts. The burning of about 14,000 tons of coal per day produces the steam that drives the generators |
