Denver and Rio Grande Western RR SD-7 type unit with a tractive effort of 89,294 lbs. #5300 built by Electro Motive Division of General Motors (G.M.) in May 1953. Used for local freight and switch engine service. Locomotive still on roster in 1986. S.D. stands for "Special Duty" and has three axle trucks with three traction motors each for slow speed heavy tonnage service. Photographer / Donor: Mike B. Davis.
