Pine Valley Mountain, source of Dixie's life-giving water. From its base come many small streams which combine to form Ash Creek, Santa Clara Creek, Leeds Creek, Pinto Creek, and others, each supporting its own communities. Innumerable springs and seeps supply ranches and farms. From the very beginning the life of St. George has depended upon the east and west springs. Used in Utah Historical Quarterly, July, 1961.
