Carl Gardiner

The sheep industry in the Uinta Basin was the life support for many families. In the spring of the year, men like Carl Gardiner (1902-2002), shown here, along with many others would leave their families for three to four months to shear the large herds of sheep. These men would travel from one shearing corral to another throughout the Basin. There was shearing corrals located at many places, some of which are on Diamond Mountain, at Watson, Utah, at Bonanza, Utah, and near the Alhandra Ferry Crossing.
