Description |
The Commercial Hotel was built in 1924 at 54 West Main in Vernal, Utah. It was in September of 1924, May Long who was the proprietor of the new hotel place an attractive electric sign if front of the hotel.It was a local meeting place for many events and dinner parties. The Commercial Club and The Business andProfessional Women's Club held their meetings here beginning in 1925. By 1927, the Lion's Club also met here. In 1936 improvements were made to the dining room and it was redecorated. At this time the dining area was renamed "The Coffee Shoppe." Improvements continued from that day on to the inside and outside of the hotel. It was in 1938 that twenty cabins were built onto the hotel. |
