Update Item Information
Title Dinosaur National Monument
Identifier A1064
Subject People; Dinosaur National Monument
Description Men and women tour the progress at the Dinosaur National Monument. This is a view east along the original trench being excavated by the Carnegie Museum. Earl Douglass is seated with his arms crossed. A plaster encased block is in the process of being crated (right). The "notch" in the rock crest on the far left is where the Apatosaurus, skeleton #1, was removed. Because the rail tracks are present, the photo was taken in 1917 or later based on letters of Douglass to museum director Holland in which he sketches the work being done on the west side and shows the tracks present..
