Description |
Reverand Milton Hersey was transferred to Randlett, Utah, in the late 1800's Following the Meeker Massacre the Uintah Indian tribe was moved to Fort Duchesne. In addition to his work with the Indians, Reverand Hersey held services for the white poeple livng in the area and the army stationed at Fort Duchesne. He held monthly services at St. Paul Episcopal Church in Vernal. HIs wife died and was buried near the church in Randlett. Reverand Hersey eventually moved to Vernal where he met Anna Higley, a teacher at Willcox Academy in 1925. He was transferred out of the Uinta Basin at this time. |
