Additional Information The steam station was built in 1908 by the Montrose Electric Light and Power Company. In 1914, that company became part of the Western Colorado Power Company, which had its headquarters at Montrose. Western Colorado Power Company was a wholly owned subsidiary of the Utah Power and Light Company (organized in 1912). Western Colorado Power Company was sold in May of 1975 to a group of rural electric cooperatives in the region
