Image shows the meetinghouse where bodies were prepared for burial after a mine explosion. The boarding house, meetinghouse, school, and barn were cleared out and used as receiving and washing rooms for the bodies. To the left was John Pitman's residence. |
| Comment |
Winter Quarters was an old mining town near Scofield in Utah's Carbon County. The town is now a ghost town, but is most remembered for a huge explosion in 1900 that lead to the death of nearly 200 miners. |
