Buildings--Ashley Post Office--Vernal, Utah |
Description |
The first post office in Ashley Valley was in the center of old Ashley Town. It was built by Wilbur Carlton Britt and Finley Britt. They used logs cut from the mountains, wooden pegs and square nails for the building materials. It had a dirt roof, wide board floors, and the cracks between the logs were filled with mud. A log partition separated the post office from a grocery store. |
