Description |
A studio portrait (sitting) of Ouray [Arrow], a Native American (Tabeguache, Ute) warrior. Ouray has some facial hair, long braids and wears metal hoop earrings. He wears two bead necklaces, one a double choker with contrasting round and cylindrical beads; his longer necklace is woven of seed beads and includes a medicine bundle. His shirt is embroidered with trapunto and cornucopia patterns. The jacket has plain lapels with elaborate beading underneath the front, on the sleeves, and the cuffs. Deerskin fringe falls from his shoulders and his hide leggings have seed bead panels chevrons at the side. He wears two rings. |
