Yourdon family photographs: mining camp life [41] |
Photo Number |

Description |
Black and white photograph of people with horse-drawn wagons next to a camp with tents, possibly in early days of the gilsonite mines. Ed Yourdon's notes: "I really don't know anything about this photo -- no idea when it was taken, or where. I have no proof, of course, but this does seem to be from an earlier era than all of the earlier photos that had (old) cars and trucks. The wagon, horse, and carriage suggest a turn-of-the-century scene. ; The tents, and the clotheline suggest a semi-permanent camp of some kind. But everyone is dressed neatly, and the women/girls are wearing skirts and dresses. Indeed, this seems to be a posed picture of some kind." |
