Photograph of Captain Francis Douglas Todd (1823-1891) was a first lieutenant in Company F 3rd California Infantry appointed in 1861. He was initially stationed at Fort Ruby, Nevada Territory, as adjutant. He arrived at Camp Douglas in September 1863 and within days was sent to Fort Bridger where he remained until January 1864. Todd then returned to San Francisco where he served on recruiting service through the summer. He returned to Camp Douglas and was promoted to Captain of his company in September 1864. When his company was consolidated two months later, he was discharged and soon departed for San Francisco. He served as captain in the Eighth California Infantry in 1865. |
