Acute retinal necrosis[1,2] and progressive outer retinal necrosis[3] have rarely been reported as complications of empiric corticosteroid therapy for presumed optic neuritis, typically presenting as progressive vision loss following initiation of treatment. Here were report an atypical case of varicella zoster virus (VZV) optic neuritis and perineuritis complicated by acute retinal necrosis following initiation of empiric immunosuppression. |
