Show A group of twenty women who appear to represent the Westminster College Tennis Club or Girls Athletic Club of 1923. The photograph was taken outside at a large grassy field. The women are standing in a uniform two row pose and the women in front hold tennis rackets. All of the women are wearing light colored blouses or shirts and most have long dark colored ties around their necks. They are wearing multi-colored and multi-patterned skirts. Most of the women's shoes are dark except for a scattered few who are wearing light colored ones. In the foreground are grass and a tepee shaped structure made of tennis rackets leaned against each other forming a tight center. One tennis ball is located by the far back racket and another by the front tennis racket. Behind the back row there is a white line running across the grass. Further Information |
The photograph is in fair condition. It is sturdy and has an almost cardboard like feel to it. There are no tares, but it has been bent and slightly creased from being forced off a hard cardboard backing to which it was glued to for many years. The front has "1923" written along the top border left from the center. The left edge bears what looks like a burn mark. On he back is the glue stains from being glued to the cardboard backing. The back has a charcoal look to it and bears the evidence of being removed from the backing as splotches of paper layers are missing. Written in pencil is the following: [?] [?] 4 ¼ inches wide Sugarhouse Press [scribbled out is] 3 Cols Trib [?]ight." A label attached to the cardboard backing on the front above the photograph and on the back bottom left hand corner identified the photograph as the "Girls Athletic Club 1923."
