Correspondence relating to a speech by Marriner S. Eccles given at meeting of the Chamber of Commerce of the United States at Washington, D.C., May 1, 1941

Scans of letters to and from Federal Reserve Chairman Marriner S. Eccles in connection with his giving a speech at the annual meeting of the Chamber of Commerce of the United States held in Washington, D.C., on May 1, 1941. Some were from the Chamber in preparation for his appearance, while the subsequent letters include requests for copies of the speech. A few letters were critical of the contents of the speech, and Eccles's response was to send copies of the speech to show that the writer's impression of his views was incorrect. Also includes a copy of a letter dated Feb. 16, 1941 about defense funding from J. W. Hawkins, National Bank Examiner, to the Comptroller of the Currency in Washington, D.C.
