Malignant Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma of the Lacrimal Gland (Kennerdell Case 25, PPT)

History: A 45-year-old man presented with a three month history of painless right proptosis without functional deficit. Anatomy: Lacrimal Gland; Lacrimal Apparatus; Orbit. Disease Diagnosis: Carcinoma, Adenoid Cystic. Pathology: Fine needle aspiration biopsy showing malignant Adenoid Cystic carcinoma of the Lacrimal Gland. Presenting Symptom: Painless right proptosis without functional deficit. Neuroimaging: A somewhat irregular lesion seen on CT scan in the right superior lateral orbit in the region of the Lacrimal Gland. Coronal CT scan showing the lesion in the right superior orbit, showing some erosion of the lateral superior orbital bone. CT scan appearance of the damaged right orbit with an intact globe and a distorted Optic Nerve. Treatment: Surgical removal of carcinoma and orbital bone; follow-up chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
