USU Special Coll. Railroad construction at Promontory. Joining of the rails celebration May 10, 1869. A.J. Russell photo. Behind handshakers--2nd Row: Man with broad forehead, no hat, cigar(?) is William Daley, later of Rawlins, Wyoming. Prior to this he had been a civilian at Fort Phil Kearny who is credited with design and construction of flagpole there. |
