Additional Information Image scanned from color slide. Hiroshige's specialty was landscapes. Hiroshige's The Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō (1833-1834) was inspired by his journey along the length of the route in 1832. Note: "Utagawa Hiroshige (歌川 広重, 1797 - October 12, 1858) was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist, and one of the last great artists in that tradition. He was also referred to as Andō Hiroshige (安藤 広重) (an irregular combination of family name and art name) and by the art name of Ichiyūsai Hiroshige (一幽斎廣重). … Hiroshige's The Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō (1833-1834) and One Hundred Famous Views of Edo (1856-1858) greatly influenced French Impressionists such as Monet."--Wikipedia. Note: "Famous in poetry and legend, Oiso figures also in the Soga Monogatari (The Tale of the Two Soga Brothers)...Even today, it is said that rain always falls on the twenty-eighth day of the fifth month."--Hiroshige: The 53 Stations of the Tokaido, by Muneshige Narazaki, English adaptation by Gordon Sager, page 36. Note: "Ōban: a print size [approximately] 10 x 15 inches (25 x 38 cm)."--Masterworks of Ukiyo-e…by Muneshige Narazaki, English translation by John Bester, page 21.
