Description |
Color portrait photograph of a "pretty girl from her mother's hogan in Chinle Valley. This pretty young Navajo woman came to trade at Rough Rock, a distance of about twenty-five miles over rough desert country. Navajo women are shy and reserved in public, and are completely self-reliant in affairs of the family and the home. Traditionally, they own most of the property, including the herds of sheep and goats." A young girl in a long-sleeved velvet shirt and a long, pleated skirt. She is wearing turquoise and silver jewelry (rings, bracelets, necklace, pins) |
