Leading the way for the women were Aubry Startin, Vanessa Mortensen and Nellie Hammons who all notched first-place finishes in their respective events. Startin won the high jump posting an NCAA regional qualifying jump of 5' 8". Mortensen won the hammer with a distance of 58.98m. Her mark is not only a new personal, but also a new school record and improves her regional ranking. Hammons took gold in the 800m (2:11.65) and finished third in the 400m (56.00). Jen Jackman finished second in the 400m-hurdles with 14.77. Her mark is the second school record Utah set at the Wells Fargo Invitational and improves her regional ranking. The women's team also got strong performances from Amber DeVries, Natasha Eldridge, Sarah Romig, and Jennifer Kaplar, who all had personal records. DeVries had personal records in the both the hammer (50.00m) and the javelin (39.38m). Eldridge had a personal record in the hammer (56.94m), which improved her regional ranking. Romig had a personal record in the javelin (41.26m) and Kaplar had a personal record in the 100m-hurldes (14.77.). On the men's side, Dustin Cutrer, and Nephi Tyler led the way. Cutrer won the javelin with 58.56m, a new personal record. Tyler won the 1,500 with a NCAA regional qualifying mark of 3:49.88. |
