The University of Utah track and field team competed for several top finishes including an event champion in the hammer throw. Sarah Grimm, a junior, prevailed above the competition once again in the hammer event with a toss of 198' 8.25". This is her third first-place finish in the hammer this season. In second place, senior Josefin Berg had a 189' 3.25" effort. Jessica Hampton, a senior, competed for an 11th-place finish with a toss of 137' 2.75". Junior Wanda Dalton had a toss of 136' 10.25" for 13th-place overall. Chasity Toilolo, a senior, earned 15th-place overall with a mark of 133' 2.50". In the shot put, Toilolo finished in seventh-place with a 43' 7.25" effort. Freshman Candus Aiello had a 12th-place overall finish with a mark of 38' 3.50". Laryssa Simpson and Aimee Nay competed in the pole vault at the Robison Invitational. Simpson had a height of 11' 7.75" to earn second-place overall and Nay earned seventh-place with a mark of 9' 8.25". In the javelin, Breanna Freestone threw for a 117' 2.00" mark to earn ninth-place overall in the competition. Mandi Witherspoon competed in the high jump for third place with a height of 5' 1.00". Lauren Endersen had a solid effort in the 1,500-meter seeded run, finishing in 4:47.60 for third-place overall. Several events were canceled due to the weather conditions in Provo, including the discus and the high jump invitational. |
