Oral history interview with William Daly Hurst by Barbara Middleton and Thad Box

Bill Hurst describes his introduction to Cache National Forest and Logan Canyon on field trips as a forestry student at Utah Agricultural college. He also mentions staying at a former CCC Camp for six weeks of forestry training in late summer just before school started which had great practical experience benefits. Both of these experiences led to Bill's employment with the Forest service which eventually brought him to work at Cache National Forest. Bill discusses the overgrazing of livestock and how it affects mudslides and the watershed as well as his facilitation in land exchanges between the Forest Service and private owners to consolidate land parcels for better land use management.
