Residential infill development in City-Owned rights-of-way

By developing townhomes in the median of underutilized, over-wide residential streets, Salt Lake City can redevelop auto-centric roads into pedestrian-forward neighborhoods. Missing Middle housing units can be added with zero displacement while at the same time addressing equity concerns of the tree canopy, urban heat islands, climate change and pedestrian safety in neighborhoods experiencing historic disinvestment Conversations with local stakeholders along with research on future land use, stated city goals, current conditions, and new urbanism ideals were combined to form the basis of this feasibility study on innovative urban infill development.
