Topics include: Biographical information such as date of birth and birth place; Parents and Grandparents; Priesthood ordinations and responsibilities in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) ; Growing up in Fairview; His father's death when Reed was young; His youngest sister being born after his father's death; His mother learning to milk cows and sell milk and cream to help support the young family; Gardening, bottling food, and raising pigs to sustain family; His mother being sick and requiring two surgeries; Her recovery and 2nd marriage to her late husband's brother; Earning money to buy the things he wanted; Skipping a grade at school and being in the same school class as his older brother; Working for an uncle in Cache Valley each summer until high school graduation; Working with his brother at a gravel pit in Idaho; Attending Snow College along with his older brother; Being a good student; Participating in student government and debate; Graduating from Snow and both he and his brother taking a job for a company in South Dakota selling woolen goods; The South Dakota job not working out and traveling for other employment; Getting a job at a bank; Getting engaged; Building the house he still lives in; Buying furniture; Getting married; Working at the bank for most of his adulthood except for his time in the Army during World War II; Completing Basic Training and Clerk School before the war ended, but never being deployed. Serving as Bishop in the LDS Church for seven years; Working in the Manti Temple; Meeting LDS Church President Spencer W. Kimball; Suffering a heart attack and stopping his work in the Temple; and civic, local organizational, and LDS Church responsibilities. |
