Additional Information Image was scanned from color slide. Note: Haeinsa Temple ("Reflections on a Smooth Sea") is an important Buddhist temple on Gaya Mountain in Gyeongsang province, South Korea. Founded in the 9th century and rebuilt in the 19th century, it is best known for its complete copy of the Buddhist scriptures, the Tripitaka Koreana.--Sacred Destinations website. Note: The Tripitaka Koreana (also known as Palman Daejanggyeong) are the world's most comprehensive version of Buddhist texts. They were engraved on 80,000 woodblocks between 1237 and 1248. The storage halls at Haeinsa Temple, known as Janggyeong Panjeon, were constructed to house the woodblocks.--UNESCO website.
