Description |
Dale Snyder, from Bangor, Michigan, was one of 18 youths from the Clear Creek Job Corps Center near Carson City, Nevada, who participated in radiation monitoring practice in a low level radiation field at the U. S. Atomic Energy Commission's Nevada Test Site. The object Snyder is monitoring is one of the remaining braces that guyed a 500-foot tower from which a 29-kiloton nuclear device was detonated in 1955. Snyder and the other Job Corps youths had just completed a 16-hour training course in civil defense radiation monitoring. Among the workers is Gordon Purcell, 18, from Vernal. |
