Show A sepia tone photograph of five women, presumably the cast for a play entitled, "Brume Brigade". Two of the women are standing, two are sitting and one is kneeling. The women are posed in front of a door in an open room. The cast are holding a variety of cleaning items such as brooms, dustpans, and mops. The women are all wearing long dresses with a variation of cloth patterns. Three of the women have their hair pulled back on top of their heads, while the other two have their heads covered. The walls are papered with a contemporary insignia of the times. |

On the photograph itself the title, "Brume Brigade, Nov. 18,'99" is written in the upper right-hand corner slanting upwards to the right corner meaning the individual who wrote it was right handed. On the back is written, "1899. Begin at left, back: 1. Miss Olive Kee 2. Jane F. Martin, 3. Mary H. Martin. Left, front 4. Miss Margaret Louder. 5. ~ Carrie Bedford. At the Collegiate Institute Westminster College" The writing is faded and some of the names are hard to decipher due to penmanship. Although this photograph appears to be of characters from a play, there is no list of characters or a play by the name of "Brume Brigade" mentioned anywhere in the school archives. The photograph is rectangular and is mat on a patterned olive green matting paper. The condition of the actual photograph is good. It does show some signs of aging at the corners and top edges were there is some yellow discoloration. The matting is worn at the edges and has ink stains at the top left hand corner. |
