History A 4-month old male with episodic paroxysmal tonic upgaze first noted at four weeks.
Pathology Purkinje cell abnormalities; Cerebral edema
Disease/Diagnosis Cerebellar dystrophy of unknown etiology
Clinical Pupils reacted normally to light and were equal. Ocular fundi were normal. The range of ocular ductions was full. An equivocal esotropia on rightward gaze. Saccades and vestibulo-ocular reflexes were normal. His eyes occasionally deviated upwards for one or two seconds.
Presenting Symptom Episodic tonic upgaze; Esotropia
