Image was scanned from color slide. Note: Myokian, a Zen temple of the Rinzai Sect, was established during the Muromachi Period (1336 - 1568). The Tai-an tea room, one of only three in Japan designated as National Treasures, is the oldest in Japan. Said to be the creation of Sen no Rikyū. Sen no Rikyū, considered the historical figure with the most profound influence on the Japanese tea ceremony (chanoyu), studied under Takeno Jōō.--Wikipedia. |
