Description Workers work on the Rio Grande Western Railroad tracks at Clear Creek. The engine house was later built at this point. The boarding house is center right. Established in the 1870s, Clear Creek began as a harvest point for mine props (made from timber). In 1898 a vein of coal was uncovered and the town grew into a full mining town. By the mid-1950s, the town began to decline. Some homes in the area have been renovated as summer homes and are very popular during deer season.
