Typescript (11 pages) of a speech by Federal Reserve Chairman Marriner S. Eccles before the National Association of Supervisors of State Banks in Washington, D.C., on 25 September 25 1947. The focus of Eccles's speech was the inflationary effects of wartime expenditure and measures needed to control it in order to maintain peace and ensure prosperity. Also includes a list of recipients of copies of the speech, two early drafts of the speech, a typescript copy (10 pages) of an address entitled "The European crisis" by Elliott V. Bell, Superintendent of Banks, given at the same convention on 24 September 1947, and an exchange of letters between Eccles and Frank A. Hecht, President of the Navy League of the United States, Sept. 26 and 30, 1947. |
