Subject Orbital Hemorrhage; Puerperium; Acute Ophthalmoplegia; Orbital Echography; Aneurysmal Expansion
Description The puerperium is a period of increased risk for certain cerebrovascular events, such as aneurysmal expansion or rupture, hemorrhage from vascular malformations, the development of carotid-cavernous fistulae, and thrombosis of venous structures. Because many of these disorders can initially impair ocular motility, neurologists and ophthalmologists may be asked to evaluate such patients early in the course of illness. Prompt identification of the responsible lesion is critical since some disorders (e.g. aneurysmal expansion) may require urgent intervention.
