Adolescent utilization patterns at the West Valley and Ogden planned parenthood clinics before and after the establishment of the teen center.

Adolescent utilization patterns at the Ogden and West Valley Planned Parenthood Clinics were studied for time periods from before and after the establishment of the Teen Center, a peer counseling and referral center next to the West Valley Planned Parenthood Clinic. Results showed a significant increase in the number of teens returning for an annual exam at the West Valley Clinic after the establishment of the Teen Center from 10% in 1992 to 37% in 1995 but a significant decrease in the proportion of teens using the clinic from 23.4% in 1992 to 18.7% in 1995. In those teens delaying their initial contact with the West Valley clinic less than 12 months after first coitus, there was a significant decrease in average delay time from 6.02 months in 1992 to 4.88 months in 1995. Similar changes were not observed at the Ogden Planned Parenthood Clinic for the same time periods.
