Description Although the improvements to neuroimaging have continued at a dizzying pace, limits to its use abound in the diagnosis and treatment of neuro-ophthalmic disorders. The future of neuroimaging serves to highlight the limitations of the past and remind us not to become icon worshipers. Current shortcomings can be grouped into those due to the study itself, difficulties with the patient, and problems with the interpretation of the imaging obtained. All of these factors, combined or separate, can lead to increased testing, patient anxiety, and delays in diagnosis.
