Description |
16818 George Brigham Hobbs inscription in Harris Wash, near Escalante. Sign over inscription reads: "George Brigham Hobbs chopped his name here on his 24th birthday Feb. 22, 1883. He was taking food to the Saints at Montezuma. He was alone and had one horse and mule loaded with supplies. Caught in a storm he did not think he would survive but after five days in snow he was able to resume his journey. Erected by his family July 5, 1957" |
