Comment William Donovan earned the nickname "Wild Bill" and earned a Medal of Honor for service during World War I. He is the ONLY American to have received our nation's FOUR highest awards, The Medal of Honor, the Distinguished Service Cross, the Distinguished Service Medal and the National Security Medal. He founded, and then led, what later became the CIA, he served as an assistant during the ollowing the war, he served as an assisstant during the Nuremberg War Crimes Trials, and also served as United States Ambassador to Thailand in 1953.
