Modern bridge at the site of the old ford and Hampton's ferry and toll bridge, looking southeast. The old rock hotel erected about 1866, later the home of Odell Bigler, is in the background. Collinston was originally called Hampton or Hampton Ford for Ben Hampton who run a toll ferry across the Bear River. Hampton was later named Collinston in honor of Collins Fulmer, a favorite conductor on the Utah Northern Railroad. |
