Irrigating sugar beets, June 13, 1952. Mack Hansen, Elwood, Utah (Box Elder Co). This picture illustrates the common system used in the area in irrigating row crops. The head ditch is cut for each four furrows. This calls for an excessive amount of hand labor and as can be observed the water flows rather unevenly down the furrow.
