Subject Irrigation
Description Flume for carrying irrigation water. Built in 1888 by the Wilson Irrigation Company who extended the north branch of their canal west from the Sugar Factory hill west of Ogden over a low portion of land belonging to Gideaon Holmes. Served until August of 1919 when one of the log supports slipped from its stone base and the entire flume collapsed in domino fashion. It was replaced the following year by a cement flume, which is still in use (1982). Picture donated by Ruth M. White, 1270 33rd St., Ogden, Utah a granddaughter of Gideon Holmes, and who grew up on the property.
