W. H. Coltharp

William Horace Coltharp was born February 26, 1884 in Vernal. Hw was one of the early pioneers of sheep raising in the Uinta Basin. In 1916 he built the Coltharp building in honor of his father, William Porter Coltharp. HIs vision and foresight caused him to organize and promote the Uintah Power and Light Company, which he was president of for twenty years. He furthered oil exploration in the area, served as Vernal City Councilman and was a county commissioner. He was known for his many works of charity and acts of kindness. He died April 14, 1956. He was married to Oral McNeil.
