Show Mr. E. J. Peacore, Supt. Consolidated Ute Agency. Dear Mr. Peacore: Referring to your letter of April 10, you are advised that the Office is not convinced of the probable success of a day school located at Allen Canyon, on account of the seasonal occupation of the Indians and the fact that during cold weather the attendance would fall; making it likely that you would be unable to maintain an average attendance of eight pupils which is necessary under the law if a day school is to be conducted. No steps will be taken to construct the schoolhouse at this time. You should continue your efforts to get all the children into the Ute Mountain or public schools. Sincerely yours, Signed Chas. H.
